Police baton charge unruly protesters demanding quota

NEW DELHI - Police fired tear gas shells, used water cannons and resorted to baton charge to disperse hundreds of protesters from the Jat community demanding reservation here Monday evening.

The protesters had gathered at the Ramlila Ground in old Delhi and were joined by politicians from neighbouring states.

The crowd turned unruly forcing the police to use batons, water cannons, and fire tear gas at the mob.

There were unconfirmed reports of the crowd pelting stones at the police.
