Man shot dead chasing robbers in Delhi

NEW DELHI - A man was shot dead and his neighbour injured when they tried to chase away armed robbers in their area in southwest Delhi Sunday, police said.
According to police, Harish and his neighbour Rishi Chauhan, 28, ran after two-three armed robbers after finding them committing theft in Indra Park area in Palam area around 3 a.m.
“The two had chased the robbers up to only 500-600 metres when the criminals fired at them,” said a police officer.
“Harish was shot in chest. A bullet grazed Chauhan’s stomach. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital where Harish was declared brought dead. Chauhan was discharged later in the evening,” the officer said.
Police said they have registered a case of murder, attempt to murder and attempt to commit robbery.
Chauhan was shown photographs of all known criminals and suspicious people of the area to identify the criminals, police said. “We will prepare sketches if the need arises,” the officer added.
