Constable shot at by criminal

NEW DELHI - A Delhi Police head constable was wounded when a criminal he had gone to arrest fired at him with a country-made revolver in northwest Delhi.

Head constable Mahavir Singh, who is posted with Aman Vihar police station, had gone to arrest a criminal Narender in Village Jaiti that falls under area of his police station. When Mahavir Singh tried to arrest him, he took out a country made revolver and shot at his legs, said a senior police officer.

The criminal managed to escape. Mahavir Singh was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital where his condition is now stable. Efforts are on to arrest Narender, the police officer added.
