Bomb kills US service member in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan — A roadside bomb has killed an American service member in Afghanistan.

The NATO-led military force gave no details of Sunday’s blast in the country’s volatile south.

So far in July, 55 international troops have died in Afghanistan, 40 of them American.

A record 103 NATO troops were killed in June, the deadliest month of the nearly 9-year-old war for international forces struggling to stabilize Afghanistan and prevent a return of the Taliban insurgents to power.
