Nine killed in West Bengal bus accident

KOLKATA - Nine people were killed and 30 injured Monday when a bus overturned in West Bengal’s Purulia district after its driver lost control of the vehicle, police said.

The bus was overtaking a truck near Lalpur area when the accident took place, District Superintendent of Police Rajesh Yadav told IANS.

The Manbazar-bound bus from Adra hit a culvert and overturned. Six of the injured died on the spot while three others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Several of the injured were in serious condition. The injured have been admitted to hospitals.
