NEW DELHI - An official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was suspended Thursday for committing fraud, an official statement said.
The official was placed under the vigilance department’s scanner after the civic authority’s treasury was found short of Rs.1 lakh.
“The assistant public relation officer of the MCD Civil Lines zone has been placed under suspension for discrepancies in receipts and deposits. He allegedly gave undue benefit to property owners depositing the amount of conversion charges,” said a MCD statement.
While the municipal treasury had received only an amount of Rs.10,125 from the property owners, another copy of the same receipt showed that an amount of Rs.1,01,225 had been deposited towards conversion charges.
