PATNA - A suspected operative of the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, who was behaving like a mad man after being arrested in Bihar’s Purnia district, is mentally sound and healthy, police said Wednesday.
Mohammad Taufiq, a Bangladesh national, was arrested Jan 12 and was found mentally sound after he was examined by a team of doctors. He is currently lodged in Purnia district jail.
He was arrested with a map of Indian Oil refineries when he was inside a prohibited area near Chunapur aerodrome in Purnia, about 350 km from here.
“After being arrested, he behaved like a mad man. The police took the help of a medical team, comprising three doctors. They found him mentally fit and declared him healthy,” a police officer said.
Taufiq was a resident of Chikti in Kansar district of Bangladesh and is suspected to have been gathering information for ISI.
