BHOPAL - Raids at the houses of a senior Madhya Pradesh official have led to the recovery of assets worth over Rs.5.5 crore, an official said Monday.
The raids by sleuths of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) were conducted Sunday at the houses of S.L. Suryavanshi, a general manager in Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority (MPRRDA).
“The sleuths of the EOW in simultaneous raids at the residences of Suryavanshi in three districts - Bhopal, Satna and Gwalior - have unearthed assets worth Rs.5.55 crore since Sunday. An executive engineer with the PWD (Public Works Department), Suryavanshi is currently posted as general manager with MPRRDA, which falls under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Investigations are still on,” EOW Superintendent of Police Sudhir Laad told IANS.
During the raids conducted at Suryavanshi’s residences, incriminating documents relating to purchase of land for agricultural and residential purposes were seized. Other documents found during the raid are being investigated, the official said.
Meanwhile, EOW sources said that the size of plots and agricultural land range from two-three acres to 18 acres, many of which are registered in the name of Suryavanshi’s family members.
A case of unaccounted wealth had earlier been registered against Suryavanshi.
