KOLKATA - Counterfeit currency with the face value of Rs.392,000 was seized Sunday from a city hotel and three people were arrested, police said Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force (STF) officers arrested three people from a hotel near Kids Street under the New Market police station area.

“We are trying to unearth the entire racket. All the three are residents of Malda district’s Kaliachak area. After interrogation we came to know that the trio was involved in the racket for past quite a few years,” Deputy Commissioner (STF) Pranab Kumar said.

The trio was brought before a city metropolitan magistrate, who remanded them in police custody till Jan 31.
