KOLKATA - A truck carrying at least 1,500 pieces of bison horns was seized in West Bengal’s North Dinajpur district Saturday evening and three people, including the driver, were arrested, police said.

According to the police, the truck was heading for Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh from Assam’s Guwahati town through West Bengal. Acting on a tip off, customs officials intercepted the vehicle near Islampur.

“We have already informed the forest department officials. According to our estimate, the horns are worth more than Rs.1 crore,” a customs official said.
