CBI arrests senior excise official in Delhi for graft

NEW DELHI - A superintendent of central excise department has been arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.150,000, an official of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said here Wednesday.
Ravinder Mohan, posted in Sonepat in Haryana, was arrested Saturday for accepting a bribe from an executive director of a firm dealing in fabrication work. Mohan was arrested from his Shakarpur house in east Delhi. He has been sent to judicial custody.
Mohan asked for money to settle the case pending against the complainant. We have recovered Rs.400,000 and some incriminating documents during searches at his house and office, a CBI spokesman said.
