Haiti Death Toll May Touch 200,000

HAITI (GaeaTimes.com)– The Haiti government that has been overwhelmed with the destruction caused by the massive earthquake is trying its best to speed up the relief efforts so that the survivors of this tragic natural calamity can overcome its effects. Haiti earthquake, which destroyed many buildings and damaged all the establishment, has wrecked havoc with the lives of people. Around 50,000 people have been already buried in mass graves and rescue teams are still searching for dead bodies under the rubble of the buildings that have collapsed. As the death count is rising continuously, the government officials have indicated that the death toll may touch 200,000.
The recent statement made by the government officials that the Haiti death toll may touch 200,000 has become a cause of concern. It has been reported that Hillary Clinton, the US State Secretary has decided to come to Haiti to witness the extent of the damages. The reports also indicated that General Secretary of UN will also visit the earthquake affected region.
The earthquake in Haiti has destroyed the headquarters of the United Nations and claimed the life of several staffs of the United Nations. More than one hundred staff members of the United Nations are still missing. While the government ministers are worried that the death toll may touch 200,000, sources reported that some enraged people had tried to raid a warehouse of the United Nations, where a large quantity of food is piled. It has been reported that aids are coming from different places but it is quite difficult to mobilize them and presently Haiti is in a complete state of unrest.
