Woman dies in Gujarat hospital fire

AHMEDABAD - A woman patient who was on ventilator after a heart attack Saturday died of shock when a fire broke out in her hospital here, officials said.

A cameraman of a television channel, Rasool Lilghar, who barged into the hospital to film the flames was said to be in serious condition. Rescuers found him unconscious.

The blaze was reportedly sparked off by short circuit at the V.S. Municipal Hospital and quickly engulfed a ward. It was later brought under control. By then, Hamida Menon had died.

Fire fighters helped to move about 100 patients to safer wards.
