LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The earthquakes are happening in more frequent intervals in various places of the earth this year. After the Haiti and more recent Chile earthquake, Los Angeles was struck by another quake yesterday morning. However, the intensity of this earthquake was not severe in nature and hence it did not cause any catastrophic damage to the public life in and around California. The quake hit the various parts of California around 4 a.m when most of the people were still in their bed. However, a lot of them could feel the tremor beneath.
The Los Angeles earthquake that had an intensity of 4.4 has been dubbed as a minor one by the Geological survey of USA. The quake did not result in any death or injury. The buildings and properties in Los Angeles also did not suffer from any type of damage. The Fire department of Los Angeles later carried out an inspection to observe any damages caused by the incident and they did not see anything worth mentioning. However, a road cave in took place though it was not of a serious type. So far, no warning of an aftershock has been issued by the USGS.
The Los Angeles earthquake did not cause any significant damage but in future more such quakes may jolt the region given the fact that it is located in a seismically sensitive zone. The recent quakes that wrecked havoc in Chile and Haiti have put the scientists on tenterhooks and they cannot take any earthquake lightly now.
