Over 10 houses burgled in two days in Gurgaon

GURGAON - More than 10 houses were burgled in upmarket sector 56 of Gurgaon in the last two days, police said Thursday.

All the houses belonged to working couples and the burglaries took place after the residents left their houses, police said.

“The modus operandi was same in all the cases as the burglars broke open the door and looted cash and jewellery worth lakhs. We have registered the case and are investigating the matter,” said a senior police officer.

At least 13 flats were burgled in different apartment buildings. Ten flats were burgled Wednesday while three were burgled Thursday.

On Wednesday flats in Cedar Estate, East West, Shri Krishna and Brothers apartments were targeted while on Thursday houses in New Anand apartments was targeted.

The thieves took cash, jewellery and also electronic items.

“The thieves took costly goods like laptops, digital cameras and TV sets and cash and gold and diamond jewellery. The flat near mine was closed for several months as the occupants have gone to Britain,” said Rashi, a resident of New Anand apartments.
