Wave Hits Cruise Ship

BARCELONA, SPAIN (GaeaTimes.com)- Massive waves created a rampage on a cruise ship in western Mediterranean on Wednesday evening when the ship was struck with 26-foot waves, resulting in the death of two individual on board the vessel. Although initial reports were claiming that six people received minor injuries in the tragic incident, the number of injured individuals has escalated to around fourteen as per the new reports. The injured list reportedly also includes a 62 year old woman who is in a serious condition as both her legs were broken after the waves hit the cruise ship.

In a statement that has been released by ship’s Cypriot owners, Louis Cruises, it has been revealed that its Maltese-flagged cruise ship, MV Louis Majesty was hit by abnormal waves on Wednesday while it was heading toward Genoa from Barcelona. Due to the enormous waves, windows in the forward part of the vessel were left completely smashed resulting in fatal injuries to two passengers aboard- one of them being a German national while the other one had Italian nationality. At the same time, the owners of the cruise ship also expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and also showcased support for the passengers who were left injured.

Following the unfortunate incident, the cruise ship was taken to the Spanish port of Barcelona, where a number of ambulances were waiting to take the injured to nearest medical facility as well as evacuate the dead bodies. The cruise ship Louis Majesty was traveling to Genoa with around 1,350 passengers and 580 crew members when it was hit by the huge waves.
