San Jose, Feb 28 (IANS/EFE) Costa Rican authorities have seized about three tonnes of cocaine in a major drug haul in recent years, officials said Saturday.

The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) told EFE that the consignment was seized Friday from two trucks at a parking lot in Santo Domingo after a tip off.

The Santo Domingo town is in Heredia province, some 15 km north of San Jose. No arrest has been made so far in the case.

According to an official estimate, about 97 tonnes of cocaine have been seized in the country since May 2006, when the current government took office.
