THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - The Kerala Police Thursday sought the sanction of state assembly Speaker K. Radhakrishnan to proceed against Communist Party of India legislator Mangode Radhakrishnan in a criminal case registered against him.

The incident occurred Thursday morning when the legislators car was involved in a minor accident with a state transport bus here.

According to the case against him, after the accident he allegedly roughed up the driver who is now admitted in a hospital.

Speaking to reporters, the legislator denied any such incident ever took place.

As soon as the accident happened, the driver came to me and apologized for what happened and the matter came to a close. But now what I hear is a baseless allegation, said the legislator.

Since the assembly is in session, on account of the privileges of a legislator, the police have sought permission from the Speaker to proceed against the legislator in a criminal case registered against him at a police station.
