DHARAMSALA - Two Tibetans were arrested Saturday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in this Himachal Pradesh town, police said.
“A girl was allegedly gangraped by two youths last (Friday) night at McLeodganj near here. Both the accused were arrested today (Saturday). One of them has been identified as Tenzin, 23,” Superintendent of Police Atul Kumar Fulzale told reporters here.
The victim informed police that Tenzin asked her to accompany him to a discotheque in McLeodganj and they consumed beer there. Later, Tenzin took her to a private guesthouse where he and his friend allegedly raped her.
Fulzele said a case was registered against the accused Saturday.
“The victim was examined at the zonal hospital. However, medical reports are still awaited,” he added.
McLeodganj is the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile, where the Dalai Lama along with thousands of exiles has lived since fleeing his homeland in 1959.
