Youth dies after being shot by accident in marriage procession

GURGAON - An 18-year-old man died after being shot by accident at a marriage procession in Bhondsi area of national capital’s suburb Gurgaon, police said Friday.

A relative of the groom Thursday night tried to fire a round in the air but the bullet hit Dharmendra’s face and he died on the spot.

“He was rushed to Sai Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” a senior police officer told IANS.

The police were informed by the hospital authorities.

“By the time we reached the spot, the marriage procession had moved and reached Ghamdaur village. But we have identified the person who fired the bullet and have sent a team to arrest him,” the officer said.

A case under section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (causing death by negligence) and under the Arms Act has been registered at the Bhondsi police station.
