Japan Earthquake Triggers Tsunami Alert

TOKYO, JAPAN (GaeaTimes.com)- A massive earthquake has once again rocked several islands of Japan on Sunday afternoon. As per the latest updates available on the Japan earthquake, the quake had hit the Ryukyu Islands with an intensity of 6.4 magnitude in the Richter Scale. Though some reports indicate that the earthquake recorded an intensity of 6.4 on the Richter Scale, the records of the Meteorological Agency stated that the quake hit was of 6.6 magnitude.

As per the reports, the earthquake that had rocked several islands of Japan on Sunday was centered around 114 kilometers in the south-southwest side of Ishigaki Islands. Reports indicate that several people had felt the tremors of earthquake and notified the law enforcement officials about the jolts. However, there is no official report whether the earthquake had claimed any life or caused any injury in the affected regions. None of the people have reported about any significant damage after this quake.

Though the latest reports of the Japan earthquake does not provide any indication for significant damages in any parts of the country, the forecasters have issued a tsunami alert in some of the small islands that had felt the shocks of the quake. The earthquake, which recorded an intensity over 6 on the Richter scale might lead to a tsunami that can rise to a height of 1.6 feet high. People in these regions are advised to stay at a safer place so that they remain safe even if a tsunami is triggered as an after effect of the quake. Japan is one of the most earthquake prone zones of the world and people had panicked after experiencing earthquake jolts today.
