CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- California has been hit with two earthquakes in two months in this year already. The first one having struck the city on Jan 9 was of the magnitude 6.5. On Feb 4 again, California was struck by yet another earthquake, measuring 6.0 in the Moment Magnitude Scale. The 6.0 earthquake in California is being considered as one of the aftershocks of the Jan 9 one that caused immense devastation in the city. The earthquake was centered in more or less the same region as the other one, in Eureka, about 35 miles far from the western coast of the Pacific. It began about 7 feet deep in the Mendocino Fault.

Although the Geological Survey of the United States reported that the earthquake in California measured 6.0, the residents in the area reported that it did not seem to be of that strong a magnitude. Most of the residents commented that it felt like it was something around 3.5, and that although everyone had felt the tremors, very few had felt more than a strong jerk. However, despite being mild, the 6.0 earthquake in California did not fail to inspire fear, and it was reported that residents came out of their homes, and the Fire and Hospital Departments were flooded with calls.

The emergency services in the city reported that so far, no damage to property has been registered, neither any loss of life. However, rescue patrol kept touring the streets for possible injuries or deaths, and searches are being made for any structural damage. The 6.0 earthquake in California, though mild in nature, had been strong enough to be felt even in San Francisco, 275 miles away, along with Venice, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Huntington Beach, and Ventura.
