Man held for abducting, raping minor

NEW DELHI - A 55-year-old man was arrested for kidnapping and abducting his 16-year-old neighbour, police said Tuesday.

“Dhirpal was arrested from Moradabad (in Uttar Pradesh) where he had taken the girl after drugging her with some eatables a few days ago,” said a senior police officer.

The minor and Dhirpal were neighbours at Onkar Nagar area in west Delhi. Since Dhirpal lived alone, the girl’s family often sent him some food items.

“The victim often came to give him home-cooked food. Few days back, this man offered her some snacks mixed with sedatives. When she became unconscious, he took her to Moradabad and raped her several times,” said the police officer.

The girl has been rescued, the police officer added.
