LUCKNOW - At least nine labourers were critically injured when a major portion of a building of the state-owned Seed Development Corporation under construction in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar collapsed Friday, police said.
The building in Ibrahimpur town came down when around 20-22 labourers were carrying out construction work there.
“We have rescued nine people who were trapped under the debris. They have been admitted to the district hospital,” Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar told reporters in Ambedkar Nagar, some 200 km from Lucknow.
Labourers and locals alleged that the collapse took place as sub-standard construction material was being used for construction.
According to police, some labourers were referred to trauma centre in Lucknow as their condition deteriorated.
