LEBANON, EGYPT (GaeaTimes.com) — Last Tuesday and Wednesday, reports of Egypt shark attacks had spread quite a stir over the Internet. According to reports, 4 tourists were attacked at a resort due to this attack. In the attacks, an elderly woman lost her hand and another lost a leg.
But now, the Egyptian Environment Ministry says two sharks who are suspected of attacking the tourists while they were swimming in the Egyptian Red Sea have been caught by authorities.
One of the two sharks which attacked the tourists was a 7 foot Mako shark weighing 330 pounds, while the other was a 8 feet long Oceanic White Tip weighing 550 pounds. Mohammed Salem, the director of Sinai Conservation has told that this kind of attacks are very rare. Usually, these kinds of sharks avoid people. But sometimes, due to neural dysfunction, they accidentally go after people.
The sharks were taken to Ras Mohammed Conservation Center to be dissected for any human remains inside.
