Over 460 cyber criminals arrested in China

BEIJING - Nearly 180 cyber crimes were solved during November and more than 460 suspects were arrested for their involvement, China’s ministry of public security said Tuesday.
Fourteen websites were shut during the month for allegedly providing hacker software, training hackers and organising cyber attacks, Xinhua reported.
“Our country’s cyber crime situation is still very grave,” said an unnamed ministry official, adding that the number of cyber attack cases soared by more than 80 percent annually.
The frequent hacker attacks were due to many computers not having protection software and internet users’ low awareness.
The ministry said most of the current problems were caused using foreign internet resources.
Trojan horse viruses were detected from more than 127,000 foreign internet protocol addresses, which targeted computers in China during the first half of 2010.
