Three held with Pakistan-made fake currency

BAREILLY - Three people were arrested Thursday in Uttar Pradesh for circulating fake currency notes produced in Pakistan, police said. Counterfeit notes worth Rs.2 lakh were seized from them.

The three were arrested from Premnagar area in Bareilly district, some 250 km from Lucknow. A fourth man escaped.

“The three were assigned the task of circulating the fake notes supplied from Pakistan in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh,” police inspector Karan Singh told reporters.

Of the three, two are from Uttarakhand and a third is from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. The four man who escaped belongs to Punjab.
