MCD razes unauthorised property

NEW DELHI - Waking up to the threat posed by illegal constructions after the collapse of a building in east Delhi, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Thursday demolished unauthorised floors of nine properties in south Delhi.

The nine properties were situated in New Friends Colony, Govindpuri, Sangam Vihar, Sarita Vihar, Okhla Industrial Area, Bhogal and Lajpat Nagar.

The house that collapsed in Lalita Park in Laxmi Nagar Nov 15, had two illegal floors. The tragedy claimed as many as 69 lives and injured 82 others.

After the collapse, the civic body announced it would conduct a survey to identify unsafe buildings in the city.
