Government confirms cases of theft from CWG offices

NEW DELHI - The home ministry has confirmed that a total of five cases of theft have been reported from various Commonwealth Games (CWG) offices in the capital.

All the cases relate to thefts of computer hardware from the CWG headquarters in Connaught Place and other CWG offices at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Malviya Nagar.

“One arrest has been made so far. Eight RAM modules and 1 modem have been recovered,” Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran said Tuesday in a reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Cases were reported beginning March last year, and the last case was registered Oct 23, 2010.

Six LCD monitors, four CPUs, two laptops, two printers, among many other computer peripherals, have been stolen.
