Eight dead in Shanghai building fire

SHANGHAI - At least eight people were killed and over 90 injured Monday after a skyscraper caught fire in Shanghai, authorities said.

The 30-storey building in Shanghai’s Jing’an district was being renovated, when it accidentally caught fire at about 2.00 p.m., Xinhua reported.

Witnesses said the scaffolding initially caught fire, and the blaze then quickly spread across the building.
