LONDON - A Briton has been sentenced to two months in jail for showing the finger to a woman worker at the Dubai airport, it was reported here.
Paul Anthony, 34, got into a row with a woman airport employee when she reportedly refused to let him use a customer services desk phone. He “cursed” the woman in front of her colleagues and then thrust his middle finger in her face as he passed through border controls, a Dubai court was told, according to The Sun.
The woman then called police, who arrested Anthony.
Anthony was convicted of indecency and insulting the employee, named in court as Maryam.
He, however, pleaded not guilty and launched an appeal.
Court officials said Anthony worked for the UN and was planning a stopover in Dubai en route from an unnamed Asian country.
