RAIPUR - A Chhattisgarh Congress worker, who masterminded an ink attack on a union minister here last month, is evading arrest, police said Tuesday.
Pappu Farishta was suspended from the party for six years after his name cropped up for masterminding the attack on union Minister of State for Planning V. Narayanasamy Oct 19.
“We are doing the best to track down Pappu Farishta,” Dipanshu Kabra, superintendent of police, Raipur, told IANS.
“He has probably left the state and is trying to get bail after we registered a case against him,” he said.
According to police, Farishta, a Raipur-based politician, paid Rs.5,000 to a group of youths to throw black ink on the minister outside the state Congress headquarters.
“Chhattisgarh Congress wants tougher police action against Farishta. It is deplorable that the police have failed to arrest him so far,” said Ramesh Varlyani, general secretary of the state Congress.
