Rome, Nov 6 (IANS/RIA Novosti) About 50 people, including several children, were injured after a fire broke out in a children’s hospital in Rome. No casualties have been reported.
The fire broke out Friday in the intensive care unit of the Bambin Gesu hospital, one of the largest children’s clinics in Europe.
Forty-eight people, who received severe smoke inhalation injuries while trying to escape from the burning building, were hospitalised. Among them are several doctors who helped rescuers evacuate children from the hospital.
Fifteen fire engines were involved in extinguishing the blaze. Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno later said the situation was “under control”.
