Man who duped students of Rs.2 crore arrested

NEW DELHI - Delhi Police Monday said they have arrested a man who allegedly duped around 30 students of Rs.2 crore in the past two years promising them admissions in reputed management institutes.
Shashi Shekhar Sharma, 35, of Bihar was wanted in nine criminal cases in Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur.
Sharma was arrested Wednesday and has confessed of the crimes, a police official said.
“He accepted that aspiring candidates (paid him) donation money through demand drafts. All the accounts have been frozen,” the official said.
Sharma ran a management institute in Patna and gave advertisements in leading newspapers promising seats in the best management colleges in the country.
In April 2010, posing as an assistant director of Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, he cheated a candidate of Rs. 13 lakh promising a seat through the management quota, the police official said, pointing out one criminal case against him.
