200 cops to guard scrap market in Pakistan city

ISLAMABAD - Two hundred policemen will guard the scrap market in Pakistan’s Karachi city after traders complained they were receiving extortion threats, an official said.

Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, a senior police officer in Karachi, said orders had been issued for the police deployment at the Shershah Kabari Market.

As many as 15 police posts were going to be constructed all around the Shershah Kabari Market. Fifteen police mobiles have been sanctioned for patrolling.

Besides, 10 motorcycle patrolling officers were also being deployed. An Armoured Personnel Carrier was stationed at the entry to the market.
