NEW DELHI - The Supreme Court Wednesday indicated that it might take up the bail application of former Haryana police chief S.P.S. Rathore, who is undergoing sentence in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case.
The apex court asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to indicate the conditionalities it would like to impose on the disgraced Indian Police Service officer if it decides to give him bail.
Rathore had moved the Supreme Court after the Punjab and Haryaa High Court refused him bail.
The former Haryana director general of police, 69, has been convicted of molesting teenager Ruchika Girhotra, and driving her to suicide. He has been lodged in the Burail jail in Chandigarh since May 25.
He sought bail first for medical treatment and then to attend to the crops on his field. On both counts the high court denied his plea.
