MUMBAI - The aircraft of two private airlines were involved in a “minor collision” at the Mumbai airport early Saturday, an official said. No casualties were reported.
There was a “minor collision” between the aircraft of Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines around 2 a.m. when Jet’s Mumbai-Muscat flight 9W540 was preparing to take off, the airport official said.
While pushing back from bay no.85, the aircraft’s wing tip brushed against the tail of the Kingfisher plane parked in the adjacent bay no.84.
“Taking a serious view of the matter, the authorities grounded both the aircraft and the matter is being thoroughly investigated,” the official said.
There were no passenger or crew casualties on any side, the official said, adding that the extent of damage to the aircraft was not known.
Spokespersons for both airlines were not available for comments.
