HONG KONG - A 40-year-old man was jailed for life for stabbing his girlfriend more than 200 times after she had sex with another man, a newspaper reported Friday.

A seven-member jury unanimously found Liang Yaoqiang guilty of murdering Yang Xiuyu, 35, in September 2009, the Standard reported.

The judge pointed out the “vicious brutality” of the murder and said there had been many opportunities to avoid the tragedy.

Judge Clare-Marie Beeson said that some of the forensic photographs showing the stab wounds were the “worst images” she has ever seen.

A forensic examination showed 209 knife wounds, including 80 to the head.

The court was told Liang and Yang arrived together from China last year and Yang started an affair with another man. Liang stabbed his girlfriend in the course of a row over the affair.
