NEW DELHI - A teenager inspired by the Salman Khan-starrer “Wanted” allegedly made a series of extortion calls to a couple but police managed to trace him and nabbed him Thursday.

According to a police official, a complaint was made by Sumit Gupta, resident of sector 14 Rohini (west Delhi), about threatening calls to him and his wife.

“The extortion calls came Sep 16, 19, 21, 30 and Oct 1 from two numbers. The caller demanded Rs.15 lakh and threatened to kill the couple if they did not pay him,” added the official.

The police traced the numbers - one from a telephone booth in Swaroop Nagar area and the other in the name of a person called Rohtash.

“We contacted the booth owner Ram Kumar but he could not describe the features of the caller as the calls were made 15-20 days back. After much searching and tracing we finally caught the culprit,” added the official.
