Major fire in Kanpur warehouse, no casualty

LUCKNOW - Property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed in a massive fire which engulfed a paint factory warehouse in Uttar Pradeshs Kanpur district Thursday, police said. No casualty was reported in the incident.

The fire broke out in the warehouse situated in the Dadanagar industrial area of Fazalganj town, some 80 km from here.

As many as 12 fire tenders were pressed into service. All the employees of the paint factory were safely rescued with the help of fire-fighting officials,\” police inspector Rishipal Singh told reporters in Kanpur.

\”The fire was a major one, but it could not spread to nearby establishments due to the timely arrival of the firefighters,\” he added.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

We are yet to establish any specific reason behind the incident, but electrical short-circuit could be a possible cause,\” said Singh.
