TOKYO - An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale Monday rocked Japan’s Okinawa region, forcing authorities to issue a tsunami warning.

The focus of the quake, which happened 10:28 p.m. local time (1328 GMT), was “very shallow” in the sea off Miyakojima island of Okinawa, Xinhua quoted the Japan Meteorological Agency as saying.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to properties, but the agency said tsunami with an expected height of about 0.5 metre will reach Miyakojima and Yaeyama areas soon.
