LUCKNOW - A man, who is suspected of supplying explosives to Maoists, has been arrested with over 50 detonators near Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, police said Saturday.
Jeewan Bahadur, who is in his mid-30s, was arrested late Friday from Rupaideeh town, about 300 km from here.
“We definitely cannot rule out the possibility of Jeewan’s involvement in supplying explosives to Maoists,” police inspector Devendra Kumar told reporters in Bahraich.
“It is yet to be established from where the man brought the illegal consignment of detonators. He (Bahadur) is giving contradictory statements about his whereabouts and the explosives recovered from his possession,” he said.
Bahadur was held while he was on his way to Nepal, police said.
