NEW DELHI - Health Minister Kiran Walia Friday asked Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal to suspend the police officers, including the station house officer, of the area where three school kids were sexually abused by their cab driver.

The local police is threatening and pressurising Subhash Nagar who came to the rescue of the woman and her three children who became the victim of sodomy and rape in Prasad Nagar area. Take stringent action against the police officers and the SHO and they should also be suspended, Walia said.

She said if action is not taken in the matter, then she will ask for intervention of the National Human Rights Commission.

Walia urged the police commissioner to ensure protection of Subhash Nagar’s life and property and questioned as to why these policemen were coming into the picture when the investigation was being done by the Crime Branch.

The accused in the case is Lalit Ratawal, a 32-year-old school van driver who is a resident of Bapa Nagar in Karol Bagh. He is accused of taking the three siblings to unknown destinations where he, along with his four associates - all aged below 18, would rape the girl and sodomise her two brothers, aged seven and 13, according to the police.
