RANCHI - A police officer was Thursday arrested by the Jharkhand vigilance bureau after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 in steel city Jamshedpur, an official said here.

“M.M. Khan, a sub-inspector of Mango police station, was caught red-handed accepting Rs.10,000 cash,” Neyaz Ahmad, director general of Jharkhand vigilance bureau, told reporters here.

Khan had asked for the bribe from a person, whose identity was not revealed, for a favour. The vigilance bureau laid a trap and arrested the officer. This was the 32nd such trap by Jharkhand vigilance bureau this year.

Jamshedpur is around 130 km from Ranchi.
