Two brothers drown during Mexico boat race

Mexico City, Sep 20 (IANS/EFE) Two brothers drowned during a boat race held to celebrate the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence, officials said.

The accident occurred during an aquatic marathon in the Atoyac river along Atoyac de Alvarez city, 473 km south of Mexico City, officials of the public safety secretariat of Guerrero state said Sunday.

Brothers Aurelio and Santiago Solis Barrientos drowned when they lost control of their inflatable boat. Their bodies were recovered later by emergency workers.
