LUCKNOW - At least six people, including a child and two women, were killed and 14 injured when the bus in which they were travelling ploughed into a stationary truck in Uttar Pradesh Monday morning.

The bus was carrying 63 people from Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur district. They were visiting religious places in the state and in adjoining Bihar.

The accident took place in Ramabai Nagar (Kanpur Dehat) district, about 150 km from here, along the Kanpur-Etawah route.

“The driver lost control over the speeding bus that eventually rammed into a standing truck, killing six devotees on the spot. The driver of the bus managed to escape,” Additional Superintendent of Police Dayanand Mishra told reporters in Ramabai Nagar.
