LUCKNOW - In a suspected case of honour killing, a youth was killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district allegedly by the father and the two brothers of a girl with whom he was in a relationship, police said Sunday.
The body of Gaurav Kumar (20) was found Sunday in a drain in the Dayal Nagar area in Firozabad, some 250 km from Lucknow.
“Investigations reveal the family members of the girl killed Gaurav late Saturday for safeguarding the honour of the family,” police Inspector Narendra Pratap Singh told reporters in Firozabad.
According to police, the three suspects, who are absconding, killed Kumar after they caught him meeting the 18-year-old girl secretly inside her room.
“The girl’s father and two brothers attacked Gaurav with some sharp-edged weapons following which he died. Later, the three threw the body in a drain,” he added.
The girl in her statement has also said that her father and two brothers killed Gaurav for safeguarding the honour of the family.
“A case of murder has been registered against the girl’s father and two brothers. Efforts are on to nab them,” said Singh.
