Fire at pallet company lights up Buffalo, NY, sky
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A blaze at a wood pallet company that lit up the pre-dawn sky with flames that could be seen for miles in Buffalo, N.Y., is now under control.
Black smoke is still billowing from the fire, which began early Thursday at the Superior Pallets Inc. building. Thousands of pallets are stored there.
The Buffalo News and WKBW-TV say firefighters have now contained the blaze. There are no immediate reports of injuries.
The pallet company is located in a former Tops Friendly Markets warehouse in an industrial neighborhood near the Cheektowaga (cheek-tuh-WAH’-guh) town line.
The company’s website says it’s the largest supplier of shipping pallets in western New York. The company also recycles used pallets.
(This version CORRECTS that the fire began early Thursday, not Wednesday.)
