AP Exclusive: Video of post Stevens crash released
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A newly released video shows survivors of the plane crash that killed former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens being loaded into a Coast Guard cargo plane and treated during a flight to Anchorage.
The Coast Guard released the video Thursday under a Freedom of Information Act request made by The Associated Press.
The video doesn’t shed new light on the crash that killed Stevens and four others but is significant because it’s the only known imagery from immediately after last month’s crash in rural Alaska.
It runs 16 minutes, 20 seconds and shows three of the four survivors being loaded into the plane in Dillingham, Alaska, the largest city near the crash site, and medical personnel administering IVs and cutting off bandages. The survivors are not recognizable.
