KOLKATA - Three insurance agents, missing since Tuesday night from West Mindanpore district’s Jamboni area, might have been kidnapped by suspected Maoist guerrillas, police said Wednesday.

The three insurance agents — Alok Shit, Alok Bera and Partha Sarathi Maity — were going to Jhargram from Jamboni Tuesday night when they went missing.

“The three insurance agents have been missing since Tuesday night. We suspect Maoist hand behind this. We have started investigation,” Pravin Tripathy, superintendent of police of Jhargram, told IANS over phone.

Maoists are active in three western districts of West Bengal - Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore.
